Chapter 2
I started my business career in my father’s retail shop. It was here that I learned that the customer comes first. I studied for years how to make the customer come first. My first job in sales I told my manager that I didn’t care about my commission, that if I take care of the customer, I know my commissions will be there. I was right; I always was the top sales representative in the companies I served.
I moved to Iowa from Minnesota to set up a managed care office. The first year was tough; I had to take a pay cut due to losses. I did not quit, I stuck with it, and after 4 years I had 4 offices, 23 employees and a 25% profit margin, one year 28.2%.
The managed care position was the start of my training in healthcare. I spent 15 years working in all areas of healthcare; except for direct patient care, unless you call giving my child an aspirin and applying a Band-Aid. I achieved great savings for every healthcare system I touched.
I have worked in many difficult situations and have always provided excellent results. I do this through communication, training, negotiating and making sure that the customer’s needs are met.
I will bring this to Congress. I have the skills and ability to work through tough issues and be creative enough to get congress to work together. I have the strength to deliver. I will hold myself more accountable than anyone can. I pride myself on using common sense delivering results and keeping it simple.
We need to bring the constitution back and follow the guiding principles.

Chapter One
Hello,
I grew up in Minnesota. I spent many of cold winter nights, however enjoyed the seasonal changes. I moved to Iowa over 16 years ago.
I grew up with 7 brothers and sisters. It was a large family and wonderful family. Growing up in such a large family we had to go without many times. Going without many things taught me to be very creative. This is a strong skill I bring from my childhood. I could tell you many stories about growing up, but I don’t want to bore you.
The many things I can thank my parents for is how they raised me. They taught me commitment, honor, compassion, honesty, ethic, morals and many more quality traits. The one thing I always remember my mother saying as we grew up was the “Golden Rule” “do unto others as you would want them to do unto to you.” This has guided me through many of the tough decisions in my life and has made me the person I am today. To me it is just a simple rule, so basic, but if you follow it you can’t go wrong. Today I still follow this rule.
I worked in our family business for 13 years. I learned many skills while working for my father. I even had to make tough decisions. The hardest decision I ever had to make was to fire my brother. His work ethic was far below what we needed for our customers and the business. Over 15 years had past when he came to me and said that my firing him was the best thing I ever did for him; whew.
I became interested in politics at the age of 8. I came home after school and walked in to our living room. There sat my mother weeping uncontrollably. She had just heard that President Kennedy had died. I had never seen my mother cry before and it affected me. From that time on I paid attention to the presidents over many years. I paid attention when my parents discussed politics.
Starting in high school, I started to branch out and look at other politicians in our city and state. I started helping with campaigns. I was very involved when my brother ran for office. I understand the work that goes into a campaign and the time management that needs to go into running for an office. I have always thought about running for office but never had the fire burn until this year.
